[Movie] The Last Airbender

I am guessing you haven't seen the entire avatar series from Nickelodeon.. Fire benders could not bend fire without it existing somewhere. Fire should exist somewhere near them or else they couldn't bend just get warm. The first one to bend fire out of nowhere was Iroh, Zuko's uncle. He was the first one to master the Fire Element and make fire out of nothing. Then the rest learned..

By the way, i found the movie a great movie and the only thing that bothered me is that the bending was so slow. I don't know if that was meant to be like that but i think it was way too slow in the movie.
